Heck, social media analysts said it was likely to break records for the most talked-about Internet event of all time, with monitoring agency SR7 estimating it had hit a massive 10,000 tweets per second and was likely to rise further. The present record at 8,868 tweets per second was set when US singer Beyonce announced her pregnancy at the MTV awards. Even when news about Osama bin Laden was killed, the tweets generated were merely about 5,000 tweets per second. And Michael Jackson’s 2009 death generated only 493 tweets per second.

The main reason the response to Jobs’ death was “extraordinary phenomenon” was simply because the iconic Apple visionary received tributes from all walks of life – from celebrities to politicians, each of them has massive followings of their own, hence the exponential attentions. There are also some cool and funny cartoons on how the legacy of Steve Jobs is being remembered.
